Set a purpose and obtain appropriate consent
Before taking images, a clinic should explain the purpose of the photograph, obtain appropriate consent and follow its privacy policies. Consent for the clinical record does not necessarily authorise teaching, marketing or publication.
Repeat comparable capture conditions
To make comparison easier, it helps to keep capture conditions consistent: the area observed, angle, distance, lighting and date. An image supports professional assessment; it does not replace a clinical examination or stand alone as an interpretation.
Connect each image to the session
Linking a photograph to a date, procedure and short note helps explain why it was recorded and the status of the case at that time. An organised timeline prevents images from becoming disconnected from treatment follow-up.
